Flying Blimp Walrus Could Have Assisted in Evacuations
Boy are they going to be a life saver? Think on this. Why don't we have a couple of squadrons of heavy lifting blimps for such things? Don't worry we will, but it may take a couple of years. You see they have been looking at how to move more for less? Imagine having to move millions of tons of fighting gear to the battle area? Well giant blimps may hold the key, because they are cheap to operate, can carry lots of weight and save lots of money. What is DARPA? Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The Walrus Super Blimps will soon be out to bid to see who can come up with a suitable design and plan.

Moving Troops and Evacuation Strategies
Well, this idea might be better used to move massive amounts of people out of a region in an airlift or air rescue mission. One way to move vast amounts of people, is to do so with large aircraft. After all it takes some 2 hours to load up a 747 and another 2-hours to unload it and many aircraft all arriving at that same time or near the same time anywhere would over load the airports and over stress terminals and ground transportation. One concept of interest is the Boeing Pelican model using the aircushion or ground effect. If you had to evacuate 1 million people from let's say a coming Cat 5 Hurricane, you have everyone go to an airport and then lay them down, put them to sleep and ship them out to a safe haven and wake them up as you have resources for ground transportation once there.

Flying With Your Dog
Realize that the airline considers dogs to be cargo. The cargo area on an airplane can be incredibly hot. Airlines are required to comply with these laws, and in many cases your dog will not be able to join you on an international flight at all. Usually the airline will want the exam certificate be dated within 30 to 60 days prior to the date of the flight, so the exam you had last year will not work for a flight you plan on taking next week. The price of this service varies by airline but is usually under $100.

Airbus to Build $600 Million Aircraft Manufacturing Plant in US
The Boeing Company has some heavy competition with Airbus in the commercial aviation sector and the future of commercial aviation both in passenger aircraft and cargo or freighters looks bright. This is significant news and will open doors to US based commercial airlines to buy more Airbus Aircraft in the future. It is not surprising that Airbus picked Alabama. Airbus has announced that it will build a $600 million aircraft manufacturing plant in Mobile Alabama. Think on the global competitiveness of the commercial aviation sector.

International Corporate Catering Guide
As far as particular caterers in more remote locations, the directory lists A Catered Affair as the lone caterer for Boise, but has four sources for Beijing. For example, Beijing Air Catering Co LTD serves Capital International Airport. Each section begins with a city/airport code cross reference table for that region to enable you to find the airports that each caterer serves. Those catering organizations with multiple airport locations have separate listings in each airport. Many of the catering recommendations were received by knowledgeable corporate flight attendants directly.

Airbus A-380 is Pretty Big
Remember the crash in NY when the Airbus took off behind the loaded 747 Cargo Plane and lost its tail as it closed the distance gap. Aircraft taking off behind it will need to wait 5 minutes instead of 3-minute separation due to amount of air it will move from the wing tip vortices, enough to flip a little business get right over in flight. Or put a hell of a scare into a normal size airliner. The aircraft holds more fuel than a Boeing 727 weighs. We shall see what happens, the gamble by Airbus may pay off, or this could be one of the biggest disasters in aviation history since the Comet or the Concorde a few years back.

Mexico to Manufacture Aircraft
Mexico is sending its team of aviation specialists to the Ukraine to look into manufacturing new parts, spare parts, fuselages and wing assemblies as well as setting up certified repair stations. In addition to working on the An-140 Mexico also discussed with President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko the possibility of building and or repairing the Mi Helicopters for the Ukraine. Of course this will mean that they must acquire some expertise and some trading partners to sell to once they build these aircraft. Not so sure this is a good piece of news for the Department of Homeland Security? That is rather close to our already leaking borders. Although some say that it might keep workers in Mexico and out of our country.

Boeing is Really Flying Now
First they cleared a deal for new 777 Cargo Aircraft, then another for new 737-400s and then another again. Stoneifer the most recent former CEO of the Boeing Company, who I have only met on one occasion since he was previously in the car wash industry, had an extra martial affair and was ousted from the firm. It is good to see that the United States still makes some things like aircraft. From their commercial aircraft division to their Space Program Boeing is on a roll. Commercial Aviation has taken quite a hit in the last five years and things did not look so great for Boeing after having massive layoffs, orders for new aircraft cut and lackluster sales.

Making a Mechanical Manta with Material Memory Manufacturing Methods
The manta ray will have different settings for different depths and densities of water, so it can hide in trenches or maneuver up a river inlet to keep an eye on cargo ships delivering to harbors or inland ports. Once airborne it can act as a communication relay and interact with all satellites, ships, cell towers, wireless military technologies, AWACS, Aircraft and other UAVs. The air tanks will be flexible rubber type tanks with an array of gases which when hit with a directional sound device will excite the air and gas molecules and expand the tanks, thus flapping the wings. The manta ray will have air tanks inside of its wings and a sound device, which will also operate a sonar and an ELF communication system. The balloon system will operate in a similar fashion to the Georgia Tech Graduate Student's concept depicted here.

Tactile Strip Sensors on Leading Edge of Material Memory Airfoils
Aircraft, which are cargo transports rely on STOL Capabilities and once airborne must conserve fuel and increase range for efficiency. As the aircraft travels through the air faster the static air will be greater and that static air can provide pulse power to the material memory leading edge to force it to constrict and become thinner. Thus the aircraft does not need to compromise wing shape for fast and slow flight. We should take this technology and apply it to the leading edge of aircraft wings to help us improve and enhance the performance without compromising the aircraft's abilities for STOL or higher True Air Speeds (TAS. By using tactile strips on the leading edges of wings, which are shaped with material memory for slow speeds, once the aircraft has sped up there will be more pressure on the leading edge.

India Air Traffic Issues to Come
One consulting firm determined that it would take over 20 billion in capital investment to bring the airports into normal safety compliance of other countries in the next decade, some think much more as things progress. Meanwhile India's airline passenger traffic is expected to exceed 50 million in less than five years and that is at the current growth rates. Thirty Billion in new airline aircraft have already been ordered from Boeing and Airbus and more are expected in the next two-years. As India increases its economic growth the population is taking to the air in travel and more and more are flying. If you are traveling to India expect delays, traffic, inconvenience as the airports work thru their growing pains.

17 Ways to Keep Safe and Secure When Flying
Watch your bags all throughout the airport terminal, shops, and lavatories. If you're unsure, make it known to airport security personnel. If you see an unattended package, bag or piece of luggage in the terminal, report it to the airport security staff or other airport personnel immediately. In the event of an in-flight emergency, you should take stock of the situation before using any communications device, including the aircraft's seatback telephones. If you are a flight attendant or other airline employee, contact an appropriate office or department of the airline.

American Airlines; Crash: Nov. 12, 2001
If you ask those aircraft to do a maximum climb out which slows the aircraft down on departure then do not take off another aircraft with a fast closing speed directly behind them at a three-minute interval, which may soon be 90 seconds or less. If you want International Trade, you will have more noise from less complying aircraft, get use to it. After the O'Hare crash they put all DC-10 pilots through the same scenario, half survived in the simulator, thus that American Airlines flight and crash was also preventable totally. It is time to check all military aircraft too for possible fatigue and in flight failures. There was a 747 that lost a tail a few years back and it took them 27 minutes to crash that one, there have sense been several airliners land safely after losing a vertical stabilizer.
