Biofuels gain momentum in aviation industry

“It’s hard to plan a business and buy expensive pieces of equipment that last for 20 or 30 years when you have total uncertainty about the cost of your biggest expense" John P. Heimlich of the Air Transport Association told the newspaper which added that the industry hopes to derive ten percent of its fuel from renewable sources by 2017. A separate from the Cincinnati Enquirer notes that up to 75 billion gallons of jet fuel are burned each year and that as of 2010 about 100 million gallons of biofuels could be in production for the aviation industry.
