Fantasy of Flight Founder Inducted into Florida Aviation Hall of Fame

Weeks was inducted into the Florida Aviation Hall of Fame Thursday Dec. 11 at the society’s sixth annual induction ceremony which was held at the Florida Air Museum on the Sun ‘n Fun campus in Lakeland FL. Weeks was one of three people inducted into the society this year. A pilot and aircraft designer Weeks has placed among the top three aerobatics champions in the world five times and has won more than 20 medals in World Aerobatics Championships. The aviation enthusiast began restoring and preserving antique aircraft in the 1970s and today owns more than 140 civilian and military planes which he has been displaying for the enjoyment of the public at his Polk City attraction Fantasy of Flight since 1995.

The family of four learned of this tragedy on January 2 2009 as America joined hearts and mourned this loss. Remembering his life and how deeply John’s love for aviation is apparent in both his children’s names. Jett and Ella Bleu both share a little aviation spirit in their names. John was able to convince wife Kelly 16 years ago to name their first baby boy together Jett. Again in 2000 his blue sky dreams became his daughters middle name. John an avid aviator is well known for his association with Qantas Airlines as their official goodwill ambassador.

Great Lakes Aviation Announces Unrestricted STC

based in Kalamazoo MI announces that the FAA has issued an unrestricted Supplemental Type Certificate approving the installation of Williams International FJ44-3A engines on both the Cessna Citation 550 and 550 series aircraft. Great Lakes Aviation has served as the primary engineering and modification contractor for the STC holder Clifford Development. “We are extremely proud of the achievements of our engineers and aircraft technicians who in record time accomplished a modification project of this scope” says Tod Anderson President of Great Lakes Aviation. This STC owned by and marketed through Clifford Development LLC and its authorized Installation Centers and Sales Brokers opens the way for hundreds of legacy Citations to gain significant speed and fuel efficiency improvements.

Interactive exhibit challenges entertains in field of aviation

“It’s nice to have something handson that kids can come in and play with. ” The exhibit was designed to challenge and educate children in science technology engineering and math said Angela Smith the museum’s director of marketing. Museum officials wanted to introduce children to school subjects significant to aviation. “This is our way of getting kids inspired at a young age” she said. The exhibit was split into two parts. ne-half was for playing and climbing around. The other was for learning and building things such as paper airplanes.
