If the plane did lose power aviation experts said the pilot did the right thing in at least keeping the aircraft moving. therwise it may have been worse. “It doesn’t look like she stalled the airplane. Gates orders new aviation brigade to Afghanistan

Gates signed the order on Thursday in response to a request for more forces by General David McKiernan the US commander in Afghanistan said the official who spoke on condition of anonymity. “This is the beginning of the sourcing of the increased requirement that he (McKiernan) has asked for” the official said. The aviation brigade which is composed of a mix of attack and transport helicopters numbers around 2800 troops he said. It will deploy to Afghanistan after January from the United States he said.

Season’s First Snowstorm Hits

More than 300 flights were canceled at Chicago’s ’Hare International Airport and more than 650 flights were canceled at the three airports in the New York area. Planes bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City were being delayed three hours and 20 minutes while flights into LaGuardia were being delayed two hours according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Flights into Newark International Airport were lagging five hours behind schedule.
