The study has an optimistic outlook towards the future of airport retail as well. It suggests that the takers for airport retail are spread across industries and service providers. ?The food and beverages players have showed the maximum interest in creating a presence in airports, and are closely followed by fashion houses and consumer durable players.

that recognize trends and adapt with each crisis. ” He suggested several means
of dealing with the financial crisis at hand, including fixed maintenance
prices, like the pay-per-hour model Singapore Airlines has applied to its
engine and component maintenance, and higher aircraft utilization. “Increasing
utilization from 12 hours a day to 13 hours a day is a productivity increase
of 8 percent,” he said. “An airline with a 100 airplane fleet can now dispense
with 8 airplanes.

International Civil Aviation Organisation president Roberto Kobeh Gonzalez said an acute shortage of aviation professionals was a worldwide problem and that Australia was not immune. "But it is important that safety standards are not compromised as a result," he told The Australian. "This is a global problem, not a national problem. The main concern is (a shortage of) pilots, maintenance mechanics and (air traffic) controllers and it will become a bigger problem if we do not take action globally. "
Mr Kobeh left Australia yesterday after a four-day visit during which he met aviation authorities, including the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese.
