Aviation firm appoints new chief

Nacil was set up after the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines. Mr Menon succeeds V Thulasidas, whose tenure ended on Monday. A 1974 batch Indian Administrative Services officer of the Nagaland cadre, Mr Menon was working as special secretary and financial adviser in the Civil Aviation Ministry. Mr Menon brings with him vast experience in the field of aviation having held various positions in the ministry and having been associated with various initiatives in the civil aviation sector.

services sector to Deputy Chairman Montek Singh
Ahluwalia. “The centre should
either bring ATF air traffic fuel within the definition of declared goods or the
states should be persuaded to adopt the standard VAT rate of 12. 5 per cent,” the
report said. “The cost of
aviation fuel has already risen because of the rise in crude oil prices.

The Ministry has clarified that the Government of India has not given any permission for any such change. The name of the airport will continue to remain Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai and the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji will always remain at the International airport. The Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Praful Patel, has directed the promoters of the Mumbai International Airport Ltd. (MIAL) to keep in mind the local sensibilities while undertaking the upgradation and modernization of the Mumbai Airport.
